Time-Saving Bathroom Cleaning Tips

Cleaning a bathroom can be a time consuming effort, especially if grime builds up between cleaning sessions.  Instead of slaving over your bathroom for hours every weekend, use these simple bathroom cleaning tips to keep your bathroom shiny and clean while cutting your work in half.

Simplify Your Cleaning Products

First, simplify your cleaning products.  Reduce the number of cleaning products you use.  You really only need to use a few basic products, and it's up to you to decide whether to go green, and which products are your favorites.  A few of my favorites are Method Shower Spray, Squeegee tool for the shower, Clorox Clean Up (good for tubs, showers, sinks, and fixtures), glass or window cleaner, toilet cleaner, and disinfecting wipes (again, I use Clorox).  Save time by keeping these products where you'll be doing the work – in the bathroom.  Make sure to keep them in a locked cabinet if you have little kids.  If you don't have young kids, you can even use a portable caddy.

Clean Often

Clean every day or whenever things get dirty.  This might seem counterintuitive – after all, won't you end up spending more time if you clean daily?  Well, not really.  It only takes a moment to wipe down a countertop during the course of your day.  Let that same spill sit on the countertop all week and it will take you several minutes of scrubbing to get rid of it.  Also, if you let things build up too long, the task of cleaning can seem overwhelming.  Take care of it now, and it's over.  When you do a more thorough cleaning, you won't be dealing with gross buildups of dirt, grime, and hard water.

Stick to a routine.  Do what works for you, but here is my routine:
Use every spare minute in the bathroom to do a simple bathroom cleaning task.  Are the kids brushing their teeth?  Grab a disinfecting wipe and wipe the toilet and surrounding floor.  Before jumping in the shower, spray it down with cleaner.  Then lightly scrub (if necessary) and rinse while you shower!  Spray or wipe down fixtures before brushing teeth or washing hands.  Stealing moments for bathroom cleaning ensures that your bathroom stays fresh and germ-free, and means less work for you later on.

By using these simple but effective bathroom cleaning tips, you can have a sparkly clean bathroom, and you won't even remember the time you spent on it!
